Pony: Saturday Scrimmage Update
by posted 02/25/2021

Hi Everyone,

I just got word from the league that we need to cancel our scrimmage for this Saturday.  I know it's a bummer, but on a positive note our first game is tentatively slated for Saturday March 6th assuming COVID numbers continue to drop.  More information to come on this as we get closer to that date.

Please note that we still plan to practice this Saturday 2/27 from 11 to 1 (Just no scrimmage).

See you tomorrow at practice!

Jim

Pony: Friday (2/26) & Saturday (2/27) Updates
by posted 02/25/2021

Hi Everyone,

For tomorrow's practice (2/26) I will be short a few coaches.   If you have time tomorrow, I can most definitely use your help on the field.

As a reminder we will have a scrimmage this Saturday (2/27) from 11 to 1 (Etna).  Please mark your child's attenance as soon as possible for this day so I can make the final roster.

Take care,
Jim

Need to Identify a Scorekeeper
by posted 02/21/2021

Happy Sunday,

The league has asked that I submit our scorekeeper to the district POC by Wednesday.  As of now we have not identified a scorekeeper.  The roles we do have identified are listed below.

Please let me know who would like to take on the role of scorekeeper.  Probably not a bad idea to identify two people that way we have a backup or parents can rotate.

  • Disman Abelman – Assistant Coach
  • Tyler Trowbridge – Assistant Coach 2
  • Michelle Stepan – Assistant Team Parent
  • Francesca Adriano – Assistant Team Parent
  • Berkland – Field prep
  • Scorekeeper - ?

Thanks,
Jim

Scrimmage Saturday 27th
by posted 02/20/2021

Hi Everyone,

I have spoken with the other NC coaches and I think were a go for a mock scrimmage on Saturday the 27th from 11 to 1 PM.

ACTION:  By Thursday, please update your child’s attendance for that day (Saturday 27th) to let me know if they will be there or not (I will need a final head count).

NOTE:  I build the lineup based on the attendance recorded.  If your child is listed under the “No Response” section for that day I will assume they cannot make that practice/scrimmage.  Any late or surprise show-ups will be put at the bottom of the lineup and will fill positions as needed.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Everyone,

This Saturday (2/20) is an optional practice.  Our goal is to refine some of the drills and skills we have been focusing on over the past few weeks.

Also, I have put some feelers out to the other coaches to see if they wold like to host a mock light weight scrimmage on Saturday (2/27) during our practice time.  We will be sure to adhere to all COVID best practcies during this event. I'll let you know more next week.

See you tonight at practice!

Baseball Email Update
by posted 02/17/2021

Hi Everyone,

Great practice tonight!

Over the past few weeks, I have been getting to know each of your children and learning what makes them tick.  Every child is different and one of the toughest jobs of the coach is finding that connection to each child that makes the sport come alive.

Today we talked a little about how having athletic ability is an important “skill” but sometimes that skill will only take you so far.  Great players who take their game to the next level have the team mindset and lead by example for all to see and emulate.  Our goal as coaches is to build our young leaders up and give them an opportunity on the field to mentor the younger kids as they develop their skills.  This is always fun to see and I enjoy watching the kids take on the challenge.

To wrap things up, I can honestly say that this is a great group of kids and all the coaches are looking forward to getting to know each of them.  Thanks again to the coaches and parents who have chipped in to help out so far.  Trust me, the more coaches and parent we have involved the better the overall experience will be for the kids.

Thanks,

Jim
